At 17 years of age Steve Bruce made his professional debut for Gillingham against Blackpool at Bloomfield Road in the 1979-80 season. After 4 good years at the club, making over 200 League appearances with caps at youth international level, Norwich City paid £135,000 to take him to Carrow Road, where he won the League Cup in 1985 and the second division title in the following season.
In December 1987 Steve Bruce signed for Man United under Alex Ferguson for £825,000. He became a Legend - winning 3 championships (1993,94 and 96), 2 F.A.Cup winning medals, and 1 European Cup Winner's medal.
His partnership with Gary Pallister was the backbone to the club's success. Steve was a natural leader and captained Man United 83 times. |
