Biography:
Alexander Alexanderovich Alekhine was born either on October 31 or November 1 of 1892 and he lived until March 24, 1946. He was originally Russian but he later acquired a French citizenship. He was a world chess champion known for his fierce attacking style. He came from a rich family and was one of the first players to get the title of grandmaster in 1914. He was referred to as Doctor although his thesis was never finished and he won the World chess championship in 1927. In 1935 he lost the title that he regained in 1937. Many say that drinking problems were to blame for this fall. The political situation with the wars was getting to him and while preparing for a World championship game, he was found dead in his room with no evident cause of death.
