Biography:
Carl Lewis is the greatest track and field athlete of all time. In the 1984 Olympic games at Los Angeles, California, Lewis tied Jessie Owens record of winning four gold medals in one Olympics. His winnings included the 100 meters, the 200 meters, the long-jump, and the 400 meter relay. Lewis went to a total of four Olympic games, and he would have been at five, but the 1980 Olympics were boycotted by the United States. The four Olympics that Lewis attended were located in the following places: 1984- Los Angeles, California, 1988- Seoul, South Korea, 1992- Barcelona, Spain, and the 1996 games -Atlanta, Georgia. During his career as an Olympic athlete, Carl Lewis won ten medals. These medals consisted of nine golds, which came from winning four long-jump events, two 100 meter races, two 400 meter relay races, and one 200 meter race. He also received one silver which came from finishing second in a 200 meter race. Because of his impressive Olympic performances, Carl Lewis has earned himself a place in history as a truly remarkable athlete.
