| Baer fought from 1929 through 1941 and won the heavyweight championship by knocking out Primo Carnera in eleven rounds. He lost the title to the "Cinderella Man" Jim Braddock in fifteen desultory rounds on June 13, 1935. Three months later, Joe Louis knocked him out in four rounds. And, yes, it was his son, Max Baer, Jr. who played Jethro on the Beverly Hillbillies. He was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1995. |
