Ο Κλεάνθης Μαρόπουλος, ο 33χρονος ξανθός μέσος της ΑΕΚ αποχωρεί από την ενεργό δράση, αλλά θα παραμείνει στην ομάδα. Με την εθνική ομάδα αγωνίστηκε 10 φορές και σκόραρε ένα γκολ, ενώ έκανε το ντεμπούτο του με την Εθνική στην πρώτη εκτός έδρας νίκη της με την Παλαιστίνη (3-1 στο Τελ Αβίβ) στις 21/1/1938
