Ιδρύεται η Λίβερπουλ, από τον Τζον Χούλντινγκ, τον ιδιοκτήτη του “Άνφιλντ”, και τρεις ποδοσφαιριστές της Έβερτον, όταν η ομάδα του έφυγε από το γήπεδο μετά από διαφωνία για το ενοίκιο. Η αρχική ονομασία της ομάδας ήταν “Everton FC and Athletic Grounds Company plc”, αλλά όταν η αγγλική ομοσπονδία αρνήθηκε να την αναγνωρίσει με αυτό το όνομα, μετονομάστηκε σε “Liverpool FC”. Ο πρώτος αγώνας της ομάδας θα γίνει στην έδρα της στις 3/9/1892 εναντίον της Higher Walton όπου η Liverpool θα νικήσει με 8-0
Liverpool FC is founded by Anfield owner John Houlding, a handful of supporters and just three Everton first-team players, following Everton’s leaving Anfield in a dispute over rent. The team’s first name was “Everton FC and Athletic Grounds Company plc”, but, when the Football Council on 4/2/1892 ruled that it could not approve membership of a new club with the same name as an existing member, it was renamed to Liverpool. The club's first competitive match will be at home to Higher Walton on 3/9/1892 with Liverpool winning 8-0
