Γενικά
Το μιούζικαλ “Carousel”, που παίζεται από τις 19/4/1945 στο Majestic Theatre του Broadway, σταματάει μετά από 890 παραστάσεις. Οι δημιουργοί του είναι οι συνθέτες Richard Rodgers και Oscar Hammerstein II, δημιουργοί πολλών μιούζικαλς, όπως “Oklahoma”, “The King and I”, “The Sound of Music”, κλπ. Από το “Carousel”, το τραγούδι “You Will Never Walk Alone” θα επιλεγεί από τους φιλάθλους της Liverpool στις αρχές του ’60 και θα ακούγεται κάθε αγωνιστική, μία παράδοση που θα υιοθετήσουν πολλές άλλες ομάδες. Το rock and roll συγκρότημα “Gerry and the Pacemakers” από το Λίβερπουλ, με manager τον Brian Epstein των Beatles, θα το ηχογραφήσει το 1963.
“Carousel”, the musical played since 19/4/1945 at Broadway’s Majestic Theatre, closes after 890 performances. Its creators are the song writers Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, creators also of the musicals “Oklahoma”, “The King and I”, “The Sound of Music”, etc. From “Carousel”, the song “You Will Never Walk Alone” will be chosen and performed by Liverpool supporters in the early 60s every matchday, a tradition, which will be spread to other clubs as well. The rock and roll group “Gerry and the Pacemakers” from Liverpool, managed by Brian Epstein of Beatles, will record it in 1963.
