Ο Sir John William Alcock, πιλότος της Royal Air Force και ο υπολοχαγός Arthur Whitten Brown, ολοκληρώνουν την πρώτη, χωρίς στάση, υπερατλαντική πτήση από τον Καναδά στην Ιρλανδία σε 16 ώρες και 12 λεπτά, πετώντας για 1,980 μίλια (3,186 χλμ). Η πτήση έγινε με ένα βομβαρδιστικό Vickers Vimy και κέρδισε ένα έπαθλο 10,000 λιρών από την εφημερίδα Daily Mail του Λονδίνου.
Sir John William Alcock, a Captain in the Royal Air Force, together with navigator Lieutenant Arthur Whitten Brown, complete the first non-stop transatlantic flight from St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada to Clifden, Connemara, Ireland in 16 hours and 12 minutes after flying 1,980 miles (3,186 km). The flight is made in a modified Vickers Vimy bomber, and wins a £10,000 prize offered by London's Daily Mail newspaper for the first non-stop flight across the Atlantic.
