Το 10ο παιγνίδι εναντίον του παγκόσμιου πρωταθλητή Viswanathan Anand από την Ινδία, λήγει ισόπαλο και το συνολικό σκορ διαμορφώνεται σε 6.5 – 3.5, ενώ δεν χρειάζεται να παιχτούν τα υπόλοιπα 2 προγραμματισμένα παιγνίδια. Το ELO του νέου πρωταθλητή είναι 2870 βαθμοί, αλλά ο υψηλότερός του βαθμός, 2872, επετεύχθει τον Φεβρουάριο της ίδιας χρονιάς και είναι το υψηλότερο στην ιστορία του σκακιού. Ο Garry Kasparov παραμένει στην δεύτερη θέση με 2851 βαθμούς από τον Ιούλιο του 1999.

The 10th match against the defending champion Viswanathan Anand from India ends in a draw, resulting in an overall score of 6.5 – 3.5, thus there is no need to play the last 2 scheduled matches. The ELO rating of the new champion is 2870 points, but his peak rating of 2872 was achieved on February earlier this year, the highest ever in chess history. Garry Kasparov remains second in this list with 2851 points since July, 1999.
