Ο Νίκος Ζήσης με ανακοίνωση του βάζει τέλος στην καριέρα του στην εθνική ομάδα μπάσκετ μετά από 17 χρόνια παρουσίας και προσφοράς, φορώντας την γαλανόλευκη σε όλες τις ηλικίες. Από το 1998 και την εθνική Παίδων μέχρι και το 2015 ο 32χρονος γκαρντ υπήρξε από τα βασικά στελέχη της εθνικής και συνέδεσε το όνομα του με όλες τις μεγάλες επιτυχίες. Συνολικά φόρεσε 189 φορές τη φανέλα της Εθνικής Ανδρών (273 μαζί με τις «μικρές» Εθνικές έχοντας 1.455 πόντους και 7,7 κατά μέσο όρο και βέβαια ήταν στο χρυσό μετάλλιο του Ευρωμπάσκετ στο Βελιγράδι (2005), το ασημένιο στο παγκόσμιο του 2006 στην Ιαπωνία (με το “παράσημο” του χτυπήματος στο μάτι από τον Βαρεζάο) και το χάλκινο στο Ευρωμπάσκετ της Πολωνίας (2009).
Greece captain Nikos Zisis announces his decision to retire from the national team. Zisis, who turns 33 in August, played for Greece during 17 consecutive summers, a record among contemporary European players. Zisis first pulled on the national team jersey at the 1999 European Championship for Cadets and propelled Greece to the silver medal. He made his senior national team debut in November 2001, when he was just 18, in a game against Romania for the FIBA EuroBasket 2003 Qualifiers. The following summer he led Greece to the top of the podium at the European Championship for Young Men. His first major tournament was the 2004 Athens Olympics. The Brose Baskets Bamberg point guard helped Greece earn gold at FIBA EuroBasket 2005, silver at FIBA Basketball World Cup 2006 and bronze at FIBA EuroBasket 2009.
