Διεξάγεται στο γήπεδο Zenit ο αγώνας ρεβάνς μεταξύ της γερμανικής ομάδας Flakelf και της ουκρανικής Football Club Start, που θα μείνει γνωστός στην ιστορία ως “Αγώνας Θανάτου” και θα λήξει με νίκη της Start με 5-3 . Οι νικητές, που δεν δέχθηκαν να ηττηθούν παρά το γεγονός ότι γνώριζαν τις συνέπειες της νίκης τους, θα οδηγηθούν στο εκτελεστικό απόσπασμα στην περιοχή του Μπάμπι Γιάρ, λίγο έξω από την πόλη, γνωστή και από το ομώνυμο ποίημα του Γεφτουσένκο, ενώ στο γήπεδο της Ντιναμό θα ανεγερθεί μνημείο στην μνήμη των πεσόντων του “αγώνα θανάτου”. Τρεις ημέρες νωρίτερα, η Flakelf είχε χάσει από την FC Start, με 5-1.
The rematch between the German Luftwaffe team Flakelf and Football Club Start, known as “Death Match” is played at Zenit Stadium. The Soviet players defeated the Germans with 5-3, despite knowing what the consequences of defying them would have been. The winners will be taken at Babi Yar, an area in the city limits, known from the poem of Yeftushenko, where they will be tortured and some executed. In front of the Dynamo home ground a monument will be erected in the memory of the dead of this “Death Game”. Three days ago, Flakelf lost 5-1 to FC Start, the Ukrainian team, which consisted of 8 Dynamo Kiev players, who had already joined the army after the German invasion of 22/6/1941.
