Ο Ολλανδός σκακιστής Μαξ Όϋβε (Max Euwe), ο πέμπτος παγκόσμιος πρωταθλητής στο σκάκι πεθαίνει σε ηλικία 80 ετών. Ήταν μαθηματικός, συγγραφέας πολλών βιβλίων για το σκάκι, παγκόσμιος πρωταθλητής (1935-1937) νικώντας τον Alexander Alekhine με 15,5-14,5, και πρόεδρος της FIDE (Παγκόσμια Σκακιστική Ομοσπονδία) από το 1970 έως το 1978.
Dutch chess player Max Euwe, the fifth world chess champion, dies in Amsterdam at the age of 80. He was a mathematician, author of many chess books, world champion (1935-1937) by defeating Alexander Alekhine by 15,5-14,5, and president of FIDE, the World Chess Federation, from 1970 to 1978.
