Καταδύσεις
Ο Αυστριακός πιλότος Herbert Nitsch παραγματοποιεί παγκόσμιο ρεκόρ με 244 μέτρα κατάδυσης στην Σαντορίνη. Ο Nitsch συνοδευόταν από μία ομάδα 5 ατόμων με 2 ειδικούς γιατρούς αλλά χρειάστηκε να μεταφερθεί στο Ναυτικό Νοσοκομείο Αθηνών για νοσηλεία. Του έχει απονεμηθεί ο τίτλος του “Βαθύτερου Άνδρα στην Γη” όταν είχε επιτύχει το προηγούμενο παγκόσμιο ρεκόρ (214 μέτρα) το 2007 στις Σπέτσες.
Austrian pilot Herbert Nitsch reached the planned world record depth of 244m (800ft) on the Island of Santorini, near Thirasia. Herbert was accompanied by a support team of 5 safety divers, 2 medical specialists and an experienced underwater film crew. Upon resurfacing he still felt physically weaker than expected. The emergency chain was set in motion and Herbert was taken to the airport of Santorini from where he has been flown to the naval hyperbaric chamber in Athens. He was given the prestigious title of “The Deepest Man on Earth”, when he set the world record for free-diving at an incredible depth of 214 metres in 2007 in Spetses, Greece.
