Ο 36χρονος Γάλλος φόργουορντ – σέντερ Πάπε Μπαντιάν σκοτώνεται σε τροχαίο δυστύχημα σε ηλικία 36 ετών. Είχε 23 συμμετοχές με το εθνόσημο της χώρας του, και μάλιστα ήταν μέλος της ομάδας που κατέκτησε το 2007 το Eurobasket της Ισπανίας. Σε συλλογικό επίπεδο ο Γάλλος φόργουορντ – σέντερ αγωνίστηκε με τη φανέλα της Ροάν, με την οποία έφτασε και στην κατάκτηση του γαλλικού πρωταθλήματος (2007). Στη συνέχεια μεταπίδησε στην ΛεΜαν, με την οποία κατέκτησε το Κύπελλο Γαλλίας (2009).
French professional basketball player Pape Badiane, who played 23 times for the men's French national basketball team between 2007 and 2008, dies in a traffic accident at 36. He played his last years in the third French division, after a career that included stops in the NCAA with Cleveland State (2000–2003) and a return to France where he played in Pro A with Roanne, Le Mans and Poitiers. He was a member of the French national team in Eurobasket 2007 and he also played in Euroleague as a member of Roanne. He won the French title with Roanne in 2007. He has also won the French Cup in 2009, the Semaine des As in 2007 and 2009 and he was selected three times in the French All Star Game (2006, 2007, 2009).
