Ο Σταύρος Τζιωρτζής τερματίζει έκτος στα 400μ εμπόδια με 49.7 στους Ολυμπιακούς Αγώνες του Μονάχο. Πρώτος, ο John Akii-Bua με παγκόσμιο ρεκόρ 47.8 στο πρώτο αλλά και μοναδικό χρυσό της Ουγκάντα. Ο Akii-Bua θα πεθάνει στις 20/6/1997
