Ο Αυστριακός ποδοσφαιριστής και προπονητής Karl Rappan πεθαίνει σε ηλικία 91 ετών στη Βέρνη. Ήταν ο εμπνευστής του UEFA Intertoto Cup, το οποίο ξεκίνησε το 1961. Στην αρχή της δεκαετίας του 1930 όταν το “WM System” εξαπλωνόταν, ο Rappan δημιούργησε ένα τεχνικό σύστημα όπου οι παίκτες άλλαζαν θέσεις και καθήκοντα μέσα στο γήπεδο ανάλογα με τις ανάγκες του αγώνα. Το σύστημα αυτό πήρε το όνομα verron” ή “bolt (σύρτης)” ή “swiss bolt” και ήταν το πρώτο που χρησιμοποιούσε 4 παίκτες στην άμυνα, επηρεάζοντας το catenaccio (ονομασία του σύρτη στα ιταλικά) και την χρήση του λίμπερο
Karl Rappan, the Austrian footballer and coach, dies at the age of 91 in Berne. He conceived the idea of the UEFA Intertoto Cup, which started in 1961. During the early 1930s, when the use of “WM System” was spreading he developed a tactical system under which players switched positions and duties depending on the game’s pattern. The system received the name “verron” or “bolt” or “swiss bolt” and was the first to play four players in defense, influencing catenaccio (Italian for “bolt”) and its use of the libero (sweeper)
