Ο 19χρονος Ανδρέας Βγενόπουλος ξεκινά με δύο νίκες εναντίον του Γερμανού Harald Hein (5-4) και του Λιβανέζου Ali Sleiman (5-4) στο ξίφος ασκήσεων των Ολυμπιακών Αγώνων του Μονάχου, αλλά θα αποκλειστεί στη συνέχεια, ενώ μία εβδομάδα μετά (4/9) θα ξανά αγωνιστεί στο ξίφος μονομαχίας. Ο αθλητής του Παναθηναϊκού θα κατακτήσει 2 πρωταθλήματα Ελλάδος στο ξίφος ασκήσεων και 7 στο ξίφος μονομαχίας, ενώ θα συγκεντρώσει περισσότερα από 45 μετάλλια σε Πανευρωπαϊκούς και Βαλκανικούς Αγώνες.
19-year-old Andreas Vgenopoulos starts with two victories against German Harald Hein (5-4) and Libanese Ali Sleiman (5-4) in the Munich Olympic Games men’s foil competition, but he will disqualified, while a week later (4/9) he will compete in the men’s Epee competition. Panathinaikos’ athlete will win 2 Greek Championship titles in men’s Foil and 7 in men’s Epee and he will receive more than 45 medals in European and Balkan Games.
