Ο πρώην καλαθοσφαιριστής και μετέπειτα προπονητής, Κώστας Μουρούζης πεθαίνει σε ηλικία 80 ετών μετά από χρόνια μάχη με τον καρκίνο. Ως αθλητής αγωνίστηκε στον Τρίτωνα από το 1948 έως το 1955 και σε ηλικία 17 ετών στην εθνική Ελλάδας με την οποία είχε 24 συμμετοχές και 242 πόντους. Η πρώτη του συμμετοχή με την Εθνική καταγράφεται στις 24/7/1955, στους Μεσογειακούς Αγώνες και την αναμέτρηση Ελλάδα-Ιταλία, σημειώνοντας ο ίδιος 6 πόντους. Από το 1955 και για πέντε σεζόν μετακόμισε στην Ιταλία και την Τζίρα Μπολόνια με την οποία αναδείχθηκε πρώτος σκόρερ του ιταλικού πρωταθλήματος το 1956. Το 1959 επέστρεψε στον Τρίτωνα ως παίκτης-προπονητής, ενώ ένας τραυματισμός τον υποχρέωσε να εγκαταλείψει την ενεργό δράση το 1962. Ως προπονητής, ξεκίνησε από τον Τρίτωνα. Παρέμεινε τέσσερα χρόνια (1962-66) και μετά πήγε στον Παναθηναϊκό. Η «αλεπού των πάγκων» έμεινε στο τριφύλλι από το 1966 ως το 1974. Στο διάστημα αυτό ο Παναθηναϊκός κατέκτησε έξι πρωταθλήματα (1967, 1969, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974), έφτασε στα ημιτελικά του Κυπέλλου Κυπελλούχων το 1969 και δύο φορές στα ημιτελικά του Κυπέλλου Πρωταθλητριών (1972, 1973). Η πορεία του συνεχίστηκε στην Εθνική Ανδρών (1973-74) όπου σε 40 αγώνες είχε 22 νίκες και 18 ήττες, την ΑΕΚ (1975-76, όπου κατέκτησε ένα Κύπελλο Ελλάδας), και τον Ολυμπιακό (1976-1980). Στην πρώτη του χρονιά στο λιμάνι οδήγησε τον Ολυμπιακό στην κατάκτηση του κυπέλλου Ελλάδας, την επόμενη κατέκτησε το νταμπλ ενώ τον έφτασε στις έξι καλύτερες ομάδες της Ευρώπης.


Former basketball player and coach, Costas Mourouzis dies at the age of 80 after years of battle with cancer. As an athlete, he played with the Triton from 1948 to 1955 and at the age of 17 he joined the Greek national team making an overall of 24 appearances and scoring 242 points. His first appearance with the National was on 24/07/1955, at the Greece-Italy match during the Mediterranean Games, where he scored six points. Since 1955 and for five consecutive seasons he played for Girona Bologna, Italy where he was the top scorer of the Italian championship in 1956. In 1959 he returned to Triton as a player-coach, but an injury forced him to retire in 1962. As a coach, he started from Triton. He remained for four years (1962-1966) and he then moved to Panathinaikos, where he stayed from 1966 to 1974. During this time, Panathinaikos won six championships (1967, 1969, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974), reached the Cup Winners Cup semifinals in 1969 and twice the Champions Cup semifinals (1972, 1973). He continued with the National Men's team (1973-1974 where in 40 games he had 22 wins and 18 defeats), AEK (from 1975 to 1976, where he won a Cup), and Olympiacos (1976-1980). In his first year with Olympiacos, he won the Greek Cup, next year he won the double and led the team to be one of the six best teams in Europe.
