Είναι ο πρώτος που μεταδίδεται τηλεοπτικά σε πολλές χώρες (14) και ο τελευταίος του Alf Ramsey. Είναι χαρακτηριστικό ότι η Κεντρική Επιτροπή του Κόμματος αρνιόταν επί 6 μήνες να δώσει άδεια για την διεξαγωγή του ματς από τον φόβο της συντριβής από τους Άγγλους, που ήταν άηττητοι μέχρι τότε στο γήπεδό τους, παρόλες τις πιέσεις του προέδρου της ομοσπονδίας Σάντορ Μπαρκς
