Ο Ελίτζιο Σαρντίνιας, γνωστός ως “Kid Chocolate” γίνεται ο πρώτος πυγμάχος από την Κούβα που αναδεικνύεται παγκόσμιος πρωταθλητής, όταν νικά τον κάτοχο του τίτλου Μπένι Μπας με τεχνικό νοκ-άουτ. Θα υπερασπιστεί τον τίτλο του με επιτυχία άλλες 3 φορές για να τον χάσει το 1933 από τον Φράνκι Κλικ
Eligio Sardinias-Montalbo, better known throughout the world as Kid Chocolate, becomes the first Cuban-born world champion when he wins with a technical knockout over junior lightweight champion Benny Bass. He won the featherweight and junior lightweight crowns but he lost his junior lightweight championship when Frankie Klick scored a technical knockout over him in seven and he continued to fight until 1938 against second-rate competition
