Ο Ναθάνιελ Κουκ (Nathaniel Cook) κατοχυρώνει ένα νέο σχέδιο κομματιών στο σκάκι. Στις 8/9/1849 ο Χάουαρτν Στόντον (Howard Staunton) θα διαφημίσει το σετ αυτό μέσα από τη στήλη του στην εφημερίδα “The Illustrated London News”. Το σετ αυτό θα γίνει γνωστό με το όνομα “Staunton Chess Set”και σύντομα θα γίνει το πιο καθιερωμένο. Η παλαιότερη οικογενειακή εταιρεία “Jaques of London”, που παράγει εξοπλισμό για σπορ και παιγνίδια, θα αγοράσει τα δικαιώματα κατασκευής.
Nathaniel Cook registers his design of chess pieces at the Patent Office. Howard Staunton will advertise this set on his column of “The Illustrated London News” on 8/9/1849. The set will become famous under the name “Staunton Chess Set” and quickly will become a standard. “Jaques of London”, the oldest family company, who manufacture sports and games equipment, will buy the manufacturing rights
