Ο Jack Charlton, αδερφός του Bobby, αγωνίζεται για 35η και τελευταία φορά με την εθνική ομάδα της Αγγλίας στον αγώνα εναντίον της Τσεχοσλοβακίας στο Παγκόσμιο Κύπελλο του Μεξικού. Λίγους μήνες μετά, τον Οκτώβριο, θα εμφανιστεί στην τηλεόραση όπου θα ομολογήσει ότι κατά την διάρκεια της καριέρας του, σαν παίκτης της Leeds, τηρούσε ένα “μικρό μαύρο βιβλίο” με ονόματα παικτών που σκόπευε να χτυπήσει σε αγώνες σε μία απόπειρα εκδίκησης σαν ανταπόδοση δικών τους ενεργειών. Σε μία προσπάθεια να αποφύγει την τιμωρία από την ομοσπονδία θα ισχυριστεί ότι τέτοιο βιβλίο δεν υπήρξε ποτέ και θα σταματήσει το ποδόσφαιρο σε ηλικία 38 ετών το 1973, εξαιτίας ενός τραυματισμού
Jack Charlton, brother of Bobby, appears for the 35th and last time with the English national team against Czechoslovakia for the Mexico World Cup. Four months later, in October, he will appear at a television football programme saying that he once had a “little black book” of names of players whom he intended to hurt or exact some kind of revenge upon during his playing days in Leeds. He will later say that this was a figure of speech and that no such book ever existed. He will retire from playing aged 38, in 1973, after an injury, with 774 club appearances and 96 goals
