Ποδόσφαιρο
Εγκρίνεται η ιδέα του πέναλτυ από το συμβούλιο της International Football Association, η οποία επινοήθηκε από τον τερματοφύλακα και επιχειρηματία William McCrum το 1890 στην Β. Ιρλανδία, και προτάθηκε από την Ιρλανδική Ομοσπονδία Ποδοσφαίρου. Το “χτύπημα του θανάτου”, όπως ήταν αρχικά γνωστό, θα εισαχθεί στους αγώνες της επόμενης αθλητικής περιόδου 1891-1892
The International Football Association Board, after much debate, approves the idea of the penalty kick, "the kick of death" as it was originally known, presented by the Irish Football Association. The invention of the penalty kick is credited to the goalkeeper and businessman William McCrum in 1890 in Milford, County Armagh, Northern Ireland. It will be introduced in the 1891-92 season
