Ξεκινά το “USA vs USSR radio chess match 1945”, που διεξάγεται μέσω ραδιοφώνου και θα τελειώσει 2 ημέρες μετά, στις 4/9. Οι δέκα καλύτεροι masters σκακιστές των ΗΠΑ αντιμετωπίζουν τους αντίστοιχους Σοβιετικούς (εκτός του Paul Keres). Δύο αγώνες παίζονται από κάθε ζευγάρι και οι κινήσεις μεταδίδονται μέσω του Κώδικα Uedermann, ενώ χρειάζονται 5 λεπτά περίπου ανά κίνηση. Οι Σοβιετικοί, που θα κερδίσουν με 15 ½ – 4 ½ (15,5 – 4,5) έχουν 4 παίκτες Εβραϊκής καταγωγής ενώ οι Αμερικανοί 9.
The “USA vs USSR radio chess match 1945”, conducted over the radio, starts and will be completed 2 days later, on 4/9. The ten leading masters of the Unite States play against those of the Soviet Union (except Paul Keres). Two games are played by each pair and the moves are transmitted using the Uedermann Code, taking an average of 5 minutes per move. The Soviets who will win 15 ½ - 4 ½ (15,5 – 4,5) have 4 players of Jewish origins whereas the Americans have 9.
